A/B Testing
EnhanceTube lets you run controlled experiments on your YouTube thumbnails and titles. Variants are rotated automatically and analytics are tracked per variant so you can pick the winner with confidence.
What it is
An A/B test takes a single published video and rotates between multiple thumbnail or title variants on a fixed schedule. EnhanceTube records views, CTR, and watch time per variant, and surfaces a clear winner once the test reaches statistical confidence.
Who should use it
- Creators who want data-driven decisions on thumbnails and titles.
- Channels with enough traffic that small CTR changes meaningfully impact growth.
- Teams who want to standardize how they evaluate creative work.
How to set up
Open A/B Tests
From the sidebar, navigate to Tests → Running. Click Create new test.
Choose a video
Search by title or pick from your recent uploads. Only videos owned by the connected channel are eligible.
Add variants
Add 2 to 4 variants. Each variant can change the thumbnail, the title, or both. Keep one variant as the control (your current live version).
Configure the schedule
Pick:
- Rotation interval — how often variants are swapped.
- Test duration — how long the test runs before being auto-stopped.
- Active hours (optional) — restrict rotations to specific Pacific Time hours.
Launch
Review the summary and click Start test. EnhanceTube will begin rotating variants on the schedule you picked.
During the test
- The Running tab shows live progress: current variant, time to next rotation, and a running CTR chart per variant.
- You can pause or stop the test at any time. Stopped tests appear in the Stopped tab with their final results.
- The Variant Performance panel highlights the leading variant and confidence level.
Reading the results
EnhanceTube exposes:
- Impressions per variant.
- Click-through rate (CTR) per variant.
- Watch time per variant.
- Confidence based on Bayesian estimation.
If confidence is below the configured threshold when the test ends, the winner is still suggested but flagged as low-confidence.
Limits and plans
Concurrent A/B tests are capped per workspace and depend on your plan. See the pricing page for current limits.
Troubleshooting
- Rotation did not happen at the expected time — EnhanceTube uses Pacific Time for all schedules. Confirm your active hours and check that YouTube did not rate-limit metadata changes.
- Confidence stays low — you may need more traffic, a longer duration, or more contrasting variants.
- Variant did not apply on YouTube — ensure the channel is still connected and you have not revoked YouTube permissions.
FAQ
Does running an A/B test hurt my video performance?
No. EnhanceTube only rotates between variants you provide; the video itself is unchanged.
Can I run a test on a Short?
Currently A/B testing is supported for long-form videos only.
Are the previous variants kept?
Yes. You can view the full history of each test, including every rotation, from the test detail page.
